Time just flies!

Can't believe we are entering a new month. I am averaging about 1 pound  a week, for me is slow and steady. Just feel like life is moving so fast. It is either work, school or kids. If it is not one it is the other. Had a photo taken and have to be honest, didn't look fat, but had a little pooch, well you have to cut me some slack, I did have five kids. I may never get rid of it but at least I can try and minimize it!

Cold with a cold!

Just no fun to eat or work out or do much of anything when your head is about to explode! At least I am not gorging on unhealthy stuff. Oatmeal, fruit and soup. OK calories not very high, but not very hungry.

Cold day but good workout!

Decided to go out this morning and do my B Fit 4 Life hike. The B Fit is another type of contest in Lake County were businesses form teams and do events for 5 months. The teams gain points and the winning team is decided in May.  Joined a team a little late so had to do some catch up work. So woke up this morning at 8:00 am, ate a bowl of oatmeal with my son, got all bundled up in our winter snow pants and headed out. Got to Penitentiary Glenn and did snowshoeing for 90 minutes. So got my work out in and got my key card signed. Then we headed over to Giant Eagle, picked up some food for the week, and headed home. Got home about noon. Roads have really gone from bad to worse, so now I will stay in and enjoy the fire I have made and do some work.

The infamous scale!

I don't want to get into the habit of stepping on the scale every day but it is so hard to resist, when it just sits in the corner begging me to turn it on. How often we are tempted to check or weight every day to see if we lost an ounce or two....guilty. OK, on the upside, according to my scale, I lost three pounds in comparison with the Lean Living scale. Personally, I think that scale is about 2 pounds heavy, but as long as we all weigh on it, it'll have to do. So, for now I rely on the home scale to tell me my fate and give me the motivation to eat what is healthy and just say no to the wings!

Just for Mike

You know who you are. It was  a busy day, but proud of how I did. I had a bowl of oatmeal this morning, my only downfall was 4 cups of coffee with fat free creamer. My lunch was  a small salad with some left over taco meat and a little taco sauce. For a snack I had low fat cottage cheese with my homemade canned peaches, best ever. Dinner was a delicious all vegetable stir fry with whole grain rice. Just want to tell Mike that meatloaf and tator tots, even in moderation, is not a healthy choice.

It's cold and I want to eat

I'm sure I am not the only one that feels this way. It's cold and blustery inside, my house isn't toasty only set at about 65, and all I want to do is go into hibernation mode and eat. Don't you feel so much better when you  have something warm in your belly. Oh, this week is going to be a long one, Spring couldn't come soon enough.

And so it begins!!!

OK, I am not new to the program, but then again I am being joined by past contestants. Last year this contest really motivated me and while you might look at my photo and say, "There's no way she needs to lose weight", but I do. Thank you to everyone today who said I looked good...still, but it is always those last few pounds us old ladies struggle with. OK, I am not old but I am over 45, enough said. The older we get the more difficult it becomes to take those extra pounds off. I just need those 15 more pounds to be in a good spot, so when I do feast at Thanksgiving, Christmas or backyard barbecues, I have a little leeway. And yes Mike, my butt is smaller than yours and always will be, looking forward to having some great fun these next few months. Good luck to everyone, and remember, like Laura says sure it is a contest, but this is a lifestyle change that needs to be learned and maintained for the rest of your life. I have been over 200 pounds and I know it is no fun, but just think when you lose that first 20 and then you have to buy a new wardrobe and all your friends start complementing you on how great you look...that's the real reward.
